Thank You Konrad.

A transcriptive series based on a painting called the Synagogue by the early renaissance Austrian Artist Konrad Witz. Showing at the Mostyn Open 18 - from January 18th to April 14th 2013.

I have no set working practise, everything I do is a direct, or indirect as the case may be, response to things seen found and felt. If there is a goal it is to make an image that has a personal resonance. It is important that it has a presence, but for others to decode a meaning. My method of working is varied, i have always used found objects, if they lie around the studio for long enough they sometimes get under your skin, invention through recognition absorbs me. I use photographs and the usual method of working drawings. Lately I have started making small sculptures, mainly out of plastic, using a heat-gun to form and shape and fuse together. Work tends to come in series, the tent-shelter sequence started with a preoccupation with a blue tent we used for camping whilst working in Jamaica in the early seventies. For me this painting has a dark presence and became the precursor for the rest of the series. I started making small constructions of tents-shelters, initially to use them as maquettes for my paintings. These became an end in themselves. The idea of a field of tent-shelters developed into a collaborative process with other artists. Which was the basis of two exhibitions at Galeri Caernarfon between April/May 2011 and Oriel Mostyn Llandudno between November 2011 to January 2012.
